Fulfilling this one on my list came as a complete surprise. For years now I have been saving any airline miles I could get in order to someday get an upgrade and fly first class. Well on our way home from Albuquerque our flight was overbooked and so they asked for volunteers to catch a later flight. We inquired about it because the $400 airline voucher they were offering sounded mighty nice. They told us they could get us in at 2:00 a.m. This was only two hours later than our original flight so we thought, what the heck, okay. Our original plane left. And then started the drama of the airlines. They then came to us and said that the flight they had confirmed seats for us on had just sold those seats. Really? OKay, when can we get home? 5:30 in the afternoon. This is happening as we are watching our original plane take off in teh sky. The 5:30 the next day thing caused a big inconvenice for us. We had commitments to family members we were not able to fulfill. The airline however felt very bad. They not only gave us the $400 voucher for each of us for future flgihts anywhere United flies but they gave each of us an additional $100, money for dinner, money for breakfast, put us in a very nice hotel and flew us home First Class the next day!
And did First Class live up to all the hype and my expectations? Yessiree!
