A well thought out dinner

Today we had conference at church and it filled my soul. It filled my heart and soul with love for my family. So I came home and decided to show them my love my cooking for them. I spent three hours in the kitchen making Pioneer Woman's Ranch Chicken, Amanda's Rolls, a fruit salad, steamed cauliflower with a homemade cheese sauce and in just a bit I'm going to get up and make Aztec Chocolate Lava Cakes in preparation for a Pampered Chef show I'm doing this Friday.

I got out the china for todays dinner and everyone of my girls asked what the occasion was. I told them the occasion was that I love them. Something interesting happened. They started helping me more. They just pitched in to help set the table and didn't complain when I asked them to help clean up afterwards. Nice.

Maybe I should cook more often. I laughed when Heidi said to me, "Thanks for making dinner mom." I really don't cook enough. Not like I used to. Meals nowadays are quick, simple and nutritious, nothing fancy or thoughtful. It felt good to follow recipes and try some new things today.

I love this! What a great idea. I'm like you-- I just do what's easy and convenient for dinner. It's usually healthy, but sometimes putting more effort in is what I need to do. Thanks for the reminder. I hope you enjoyed the rolls!
