Blame it on the trees

Outside of my local grocery store there are Christmas trees. I went to the store today to pick up a few things and when I approached the front of the store the trees cast their scent on me.

They did.

I swear.

It's like they said, "here, have some of this."

And you know what? In that moment when the smell of rich Noble Firs permeated my body....

It was CHRISTMAS.

It's here, it's here.

Yes, I know Thanksgiving is not over yet but it's not my fault. The trees did it, I am blaming them for my early decorating.

Nothing wrong with decorating early! In fact, on Thursday, you can be thankful for the freedom to decorate when you want.

I love the smell of fresh trees. And those cinnamon pine cones that the craft stores have. Mmmm.

I adore Christmas, but I really just don't get it when Christmas starts before Thanksgiving ever has a chance. If I saw those trees and smelled of their goodness, I am sure I'd be sucked in too. Christmas just has that power I guess:0)

My thoughts... What is the reason for thanksgiving? To be thankful. If Christmas is something you are thankful about, then by all means let the Noble fir permeate. Deck the halls. Be Jolly.

I was a tad disgusted today when I heard, "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart..." on the radio today, but then again, there is no Thanksgiving in Germany, but Sunday is the 1st Advent and you have to have at least your advent calendar and your advent wreath finished and some cookies for the kids here, so we typically do Thanksgiving and start with Christmas all in one wash - besides, after taking down the Halloween deco, what can you really do for Thanksgiving? - just makes sense to save time and go straight to Christmas, RIGHT?!
