When we moved into our home three and a half years ago it was a huge blessing to our family. We ended up buying our home 18 months later. I really wanted to paint the outside of it. But like most things when it comes to my house they just sit there in the back of my mind, mulling, stewing, hibernating. They rarely see fruition. This summer I was determined to paint my house because not only did i want to improve upon the color it also was looking a little sad. Paint was chipping in spots, sun damage in others, water damage on the garage door, etc. But knowing how I was with "projects" i needed a plan. I chose my paint colors and taped them all over the front door. Then, when anyone came by they would say...
"Are you painting your house?"
"Yes, i am, which one do you like?"
After about two weeks I had about ten people I had commited to, I had said verbally that i was indeed painting my house. That meant I had to do it.
So here comes the end of August. I am feeling a wee bit bad about not painting the house but not enough to really do anything about it. Then my friend Sarah says,
"When are we painting your house?" (she is one those people who saw the paint samples)
"Oh, um, uh, well, I don't know if i can afford it."
After a discussion on what it would cost we decided we would cancel our trip to Enchanted Forest we were all going to take (Sarah and I) and I would spend the money instead on paint and she would come and help me since she had that day dedicated to spending with me anyway.
Mason, Boston, Emma and Roz busy painting the south side
So today was the day. And not only did I have Sarah and her lovely children, I had Merilee and her amazing kids. And my kids were so helpful getting icewater, painting and helping all around. We spent two hours painting and got the house half done today. Saturday we are going to finish up and then have a barbecue afterwards.
And you want to know the cool thing? These were just the two friends of mine that happened to know I was doing this and needed the help. I could have called on any number of people and they would have helped me. I love that. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by good people.
I love my friends.

It absolutely amazes me what our friends do for us sometimes! I'm so glad you have friends who got you moving on this and then helped you to do it! And I love the color! Can't wait to see a picture of the finished product! :-)
Awesome!! I can't wait to see the finished product!!
it is great that you had so much help to get the painting done..the more you have the more fun it becomes too. It looks like there was plenty of that
Can't wait to see the finished house. I like the color. Wish I were closer, I'd come on Saturday!! I LOVE painting - as in big project painting.
It's looks like the task was fun for everyone. Post a picture of it complete for us.
I am anxious to see your new paint job! I am only moderately jealous...heaven knows our house could use a facelift!
It sounds like a big job! How did you have time to do that and volunteer this weekend? You are amazing. I hope you'll show us some after pictures when it is all done!
I'm glad I read this post so I don't drive past it! I feel so out of touch. I bet the kids had more fun than they would have that day!
