Someone at work the other day asked me,upon finding out I was a Mormon, "Do you have at least 10 siblings?" I replied, "nope, just one sister." For which I'm very happy about. These are my reasons why I love having just one sibling:
* I always know who to call. No decision has to be made.
* No drama between siblings. As in "Mary" said this to me and can you believe she said that?
* We never are mad at each other because if we were we would have no one and that is a lonely place to be.
* I never have to decide which sibling is most worthy of my presence when deciding to spend money on a plane ticket. I just buy a ticket to Baltimore.
* I don't have to store tons of extra pillows in my house for extra guests. She only requires two.
* My cell phone isn't cluttered with tons of speed dial numbers.
* I get good presents. She doesn't have to divide her money between several of us so I get it all.
* She gets nice gifts from me also. For the same reason above.
* There was plenty of food on the table and leftovers while growing up. This may sound like a strange one but the first time i had dinner at Chris' house with all his siblings one of them said to me, "you better get something fast before it's all gone." (Thanks Melissa) She wasn't joking. Within two minutes all the food was gone on the table.
I don't have anything against large families. I love large families. I'm just glad that I only have one sister. It works for me.
My sister will be here in 11 days. Woo-hoo!!!!!

I love it when someone is perfectly happy with their situation. I think having one sister would be great. I am, however, happiest with my 4 sisters and 5 brothers.
That's great. I agree with Merilee, it's great to be happy wtih what you've got. That's exciting she's coming to visit soon!
You and your sister are beautiful!! :-) Have fun with her while she's here!
I love your ticker. It reminds me of one of my many sisters (Megan) and her paper chains.
I'm glad you and your sister have such a great relationship. I love your reasons for loving having only one.
As for myself, My dad has said that they hadn't joined the church, I would have been the last. I'm so glad I have the six younger than me. They are all amazing.
I just hope my kids say they're glad they are just three when they grow up.
LOL nope seriously wasn't kidding...it was law of the jungle back then ;) And thanks for posting this, I've been wondering lately if only having 2 kids is going to deprive them somehow of some kind of special big family something..but you are right there are a lot of advantages for them! (Plus they have seventy zillion cousins on Bruce's side to make up for any lack I guess!)
Hey...I only have 1 sister, too! Growing up in a Mormon family with only 2 kids was rare but because there were only 2 kids and 2 parents we all have a very strong bond. I enjoyed your list and want to say...'ditto'!
i only have one sister, also, but 2 brothers! i love the relationship i have with my sister! sisters are the best!
how fun that she will be coming for a visit! i wish i could go visit malia in hawaii and escape this dang cold weather!
You and your sister are beautiful! I grew up with all boys and always wanted a sister. I also always wanted Tresa to have a sister, Oh well!
My girls get upset with me for only having two. They still remind me that they really wanted a little brother.
I am soooo cool! How could I know I could bring such happiness to a relationship!
All of a sudden I am feeling pressure...what if my gift isn't good enough....I must go shopping....:)
