anyone got a gun?

Yesterday I went to the Goodwill Outlet. It is a place I don't go to very often. Maybe once or twice a year. My reason for going on this particular day was to find some props for Halloween and to find some accessories to go with Emma and Heidi's costumes. I was in search for as many white sheets as I could find. While I was digging through the bins in search of these hidden sheets, Emma and Heidi wanted to go look through the toy bins. I let them go since we needed to find some kind of toy gun that would work for Heidi's princess Leia costume. I didn't want just any ordinary squirt gun. I wanted something, well let's say more 'galactic' looking. They are happily digging through junk. Pretty soon I hear my name being called. "Mom!" I look up along with every other woman around me. But these were my kids calling that name. Then comes, quite loudly I add, "WE COULDN'T FIND ANY GUNS." Then all those women that had looked up and then the men too, all turned to stare at me. No people I'm not sending my kids to find REAL guns. PLAY guns. I quickly yelled back, "WELL KEEP TRYING TO FIND SOME PLAY GUNS."

That's funny. Better had that happened in say, an airport or busy subway station. :)

Hi Darilyn,
I'm a friend of Bridget's but I saw your comment on Jessica Romney's blog. Was your college friend Susie? I kind of think it has to be...went to BYU, grew up in SLC, and named her son Romney! If so, she's a friend I met when we lived in Virginia and I had been wondering that about Jessica, too. Small, small world.

that's got to be especially funny in Oregon. I don't think anyone would blink twice here in AZ. Well, maybe now, but 10 years ago they wouldn't have.

BWAHAHA! Although if you'd been in UT no one would have blinked, and they would have shown the girls where to find the real guns & ammo...scary.

Oh the funniness! (is that a word?) Truthfully, I don't think I would have even looked up if I heard some kids yeeling that, at least not at your good will outlet. I've seen the people that shop here. :)
