It seems like I haven't posted anything in a long time. I've been busy. Last Monday I officially started my third job. I'm working at Lane Bryant 3 days a week. Working for a sister in our ward 1 day a week and working for HomeTechInc doing transcription work just about every day. Working for the sister in our ward is temporary, just until Christmas. And I plan on working at Lane Bryant until I can actually make some money at my transcription job. You get paid by the page and and let's just say....I really suck at it. The first one I did made a whole $1.20 an hour. I've worked my self up to $3.60/hr and I'll work at Lane Bryant until I get up to $10/hr. I like Lane Bryant. It's a lot of fun to help people. I've realized a few things the past couple weeks since I've been working there.
#1 75% of the ladies that walk in the store are clueless about what they want. THEY ACTUALLY WANT HELP. This surprised me. I'm the one that says, "No thanks, I'm just looking around." When asked if they can help me find something by a salesperson. This just isn't the case most of the time. They almost always want help. Which I'm glad to give them. It's fun.
#2 That the sexy panties sell more than the plain cotton ones. This surprised me too. We are talking about plus sized women here. And while I know they want to feel sexy too (because I'm one of them), we're talking a comfort thing here. I won't go into details about this but I think you can see my point.
#3 Listening to the same music over and over and over again makes me want to kill myself. How in the world is a cookie sharp? I know you don't get this but it's a line in one of the songs. These are not songs any of us would ever hear ANYWHERE. I finally asked Melissa (my friend and manager) how often they change the music. She just smiled and said, "why, are you tired of it?" YES, YES YES. Apparently Oct. 1st is the happy day I get to listen to something new and no longer have to hear how we should be "brave for our man."
On another note we had a great weekend. Our day started with Makenzie's soccer game at 9am. We dropped her off at 8:30 then ran to "My Favorite Muffin" and got bagels and mini muffins and hot chocolate. Then back to the game to watch them stomp the competition 5-1. GO STRIKERS!
Then it was off to Emma's game. They didn't win but played much better than the two previous games. They are a new team (haven't played together before) and are really improving on working together. Emma almost made a goal but it was a little to the left. YEAH GOALIE GIRLS!
And then we had a football game to attend where Heidi cheered. She is a great cheerleader. She cheers with 5th and 6th grade girls and for only being a 2nd grader she definitely holds her own. It was really cold out during the game and she and her friend Eliza made it until about the last 4 minutes of the game. Then they came and crawled up on my lap and we snuggled under a blanket until the game was over.
Chris' parents came up to watch all the girls do their activities and the girls loved having them there.
I was going to post pictures but I can't find the USB cable for the camera. Hm...wonder where it went. I'll have to post them later when I have more time to look for it. I'm off to work.

Wow, you are one busy woman! I'm glad you like Lane Bryant. I'm starting to be one who will ask for help when I go shopping, the sales people are always friendly and know where what I'm looking for is. I used to be emarrassed to ask for help.
I wish you could take your Ipod to work and plug it in to the sound system. Listening to music I hate over and over drives me bonkers!
I totally laughed out loud when you were talking about killing yourself over the redundant music! I used to work at Eddie Bauer in college and I can remember feeling that same way. How many times can you listen to the same music in a 4 hour shift??? ARGHHH!!! Just wait until Christmas...fa la la la la la la la la!!!
You are a busy lady. As for the transciption thing....Christie did that. You will get faster and you will make more money but I can see how it would be totally frustrating at first. Look forward to seeing you tomorrow! I'll have Eclipse to give back to you. I have 40 pages left, I am dying to sit and read!
Wow! You are really busy! Remember to breathe!
wow darilyn! you go! i guess that is what happens when you have all your children in school. you must find something to do with all of that time! i'll be there in 20 years (not really, it just feels like it sometimes!) you are a super woman!
How do you do it? I only work 2 days a week and I feel like I'm completely strung out. Then you come back from all this and make all these fabulous recipes and jam.
I think you must be the Super Mormon Mom people always talk about.
Good luck w/ the music. After working at Lerner New York one holiday season I can never see anything pineapple w/o wondering who likes pinacolada or getting caught in the rain.
Elise, all the jam and canning was done before I started working. I haven't done a single thing with my garden since. It's sad actually. My husband mentioned that we needed to pick the tomatoes. I just said, "why? I don't have time to do anything with them." I wish I didn't have to work but the facts are that I do. At least for now.
Sounds like you have been so busy! Glad to hear that you are enjoying yourself though. Do you get a discount at Lane Bryant? They have some nice stuff...and some strange stuff!
