Hairspray
Tonight I saw the best movie ever! I saw Hairspray. If you have been saying to yourself "that movie isn't for me" then I dare you to see it and not have a silly grin on your face the whole time. I absolutely loved it. I will see it again and again. I'm not sure what it is about musicals that I love. Ever since I was a little girl and saw The Sound of Music for the first time, I was in love. In fact, this past weekend it was on TV and I made unsuspecting Emma sit and watch it with me in hopes that she would love it as much as I. She may not be singing to the soundtrack daily like I did at her age but she did like it. I'll take what I can get. Then there was Grease. I loved that and still do. Although it's a little weird that my mother let me watch a movie that sent the message that wearing tight leather pants, off the shoulder shirt, and smoking a cigarette was the cool thing to do. In more recent years there has been Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Dream Girls, Phantom of the Opera and yes, even High School Musical. I love all of these. Why is that? There is something about everyone singing and dancing that just makes me happy. Another reason I wanted to see Hairspray besides it being a musical is because Queen Latifah is in it. I love her. I love her movies. If you haven't seen Beauty Shop, it's a must see. As well as Last Holiday. Plus she was in Chicago. I just love watching her movies. Well enough of my jabber about musicals. If you haven't seen Hairspray then check it out. Playing not too much longer at a theater near you!

I watched the trailer of 'Hairspray' the other day. Looks brilliant! The children converted me to High School Musical (1). I secretly bought the soundtrack and was listening to it on my iPod for a few days before I let them know. Hee Hee!
thanks for the review. i love musicals too and have not see hairspray. i loved moulin rouge and i remember being so surprised to hear it had been my mom's favorite movie.
Nyree, that cracks me up about you secretly listening to high school musical on your ipod!
Bridget- You often mention finding out little things about your mom (like her favorite movie). How did you hear these things? From a sibling or your dad or what?
Isn't Zac Efron just too cute?
I'll have to check it out when I get a chance. I love musicals too! We were able to see Cats while it was still on Broadway and to see Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat while Donny Osmond was playing Joseph. It was fantastic!
I LOVED Hairspray! It is so fun. I have seen it twice. And, I blast the soundtrack all the time annoying my husband the whole time! Glad you liked it!
I, too, LOVE musicals but have yet to see Hairspray. I just watched Grease on TV the other day and was singing like a rock star! I have seen that one way too many times to count :)
