All gardeners live in beautiful places because they make them so.

For some time now I have wanted to have a large herb garden. I've dabbled here and there planting two or three herbs each summer and enjoying what they bring forth in my cooking. This year I decided it was time to accomplish # 14 on my List of 50 Things First thing I had to do was decide HOW to do it. Did I want a container garden? Did I want a corner garden? How many? I found a great website that actually gave me specific plans for herb gardens. And not only did it give me a layout but it tells me what to plant where. Perfect for me. At first I wanted the corner garden but as I looked around my yard my eyes took hold of an old children's picnic table we have had for many many years. For the past 3 years my children have been too big for it so it has become a table that I put different potted plants on. It had become very worn looking and I have been wanting to paint it but feeling a bit guilty about painting good Redwood. I held my breath however and started painting it. I LOVE it. It inspired me to place my herbs on it. I could picture in my mind royal Provence Lavender in the forefront of the sage green wood. Lovely. I chose the container garden layout and went to work. Here are my results:

Ooh so pretty! We never use our picnic table maybe I should do the same thing....
Looks great! Mine is still sitting on the ground... But using it already! My cilantro is out of control!
Wow! It looks great. Way to go, Darilyn. I wouldn't have the a single idea on how to use any of those herbs...
What a great herb garden!
We had an herb garden when we lived there and I miss it. But yours is way prettier. Not only a useful garden, but a work of art.
