For anyone that lives in the Pacific Northwest you know what I'm talking about. This is Spring? I can deal with an occasional sprinkle here or there and wearing a light jacket but it feels like an arctic tundra out there. It's cold.
The cold didn't stop us though.
We went to OMSI today. I think only my dear husband and now Elizabeth (we have this in common we found out) know how much I don't like going to OMSI. Poor Emma and Heidi were asking on the way there, "have we ever been to OMSI?" I grimaced to myself and then very positively said, "sure, you went last year to watch that movie for your school field trip, remember?" They were appeased. Until they saw what else there was. Now they want to go back. But I did good. I stayed for a whole 3 hours. It was the least I could do since I've deprived them of this experience in childhood. And I didn't rush them a single time. That was my gift to them.
What is wrong with me? I don't like the zoo either.
After OMSI we headed towards Beaverton and grabbed a late lunch and then we sat through Emma's Irish dance class. After that we went to see the City of Ember at the theatre. I had been really excited to see this movie. I read the book three years ago with Makenzie and loved the book. The movie was great. It stayed pretty true to the book from what we could remember.
Stay tuned for day 2 of Not so Spring Break......

I LOVE OMSI, Steve hates it...so you're in good company ;) I'll bet it was crazy busy there today.
I understand the not so spring break. We have been in the high 40's. Plus I have packed up 80% of my clothes all ready. Oh well. I'll just walk really fast inside :)
Oh man, there's snow on the ground here..SNOW..ugh. Anyway I hope your spring warms up and you have a great time during the break!

We haven't been to OMSI yet. I like the zoo but I like to move through quickly. I'm sure that I could see everything in an hour.
I didn't realize that City of Ember was a book. It's a movie in our matinee program but I'd never heard of it so I thought I would skip it. Do you think it would be good for my little kids? 8, 6 and 3?
Depending upon the exibit I like omsi. I really loved going when they had the titanic exibit. I could have stayed there all day reading the stuff. I personally had no interest in the human body one they had. I'm a fan of the zoo onlly when you go with little kids.
Hopefully the weather turns up for the rest of the week.
Amanda, City of Ember is part of our matinee program too. I don't think your 3 year old would like it. My eight year old liked it but was a little scared in a couple of spots. She scares easily though so keep that in mind. There are moments of peril which could be frightening for real little ones. I think your eight year old would like it for sure.
Oh man! We have OMSI or the zoo on the agenda later this week. I feel exactly like you about them...let them go on field trips:)
We loved City of Ember too! My kids favorite line is from the old man, "That's not MY job!" They think it's funny to tell me that after I've asked them to do something...Me? Not so much!
We're in Seattle and we're going to the Science Center and Children's Museum tomorrow.
