Heidi with Kanani, Eliza with Elizabeth
No, not a new child. An American Girl doll. Just when I thought I was safe from the American Girl craze my youngest approaches me this summer and says she wants to save her money for an American Girl doll. My response was, What?
Aren't you kind of old for that? .....She's 11. Apparently not. The other two never once mentioned those two words in our house and I'm grateful for that, they are expensive. But true to her word, Heidi saved her allowance and just this week Kanani arrived via Fed Ex.
Kanani is from Hawaii, has beautiful hair and is the doll of the year. That means at the end of this year you will no longer be able to buy her.
This morning Kanani was invited to a Halloween party. It is a brunch and then apparently they are doing some trick-or-treating. The dolls, not the girls. This is all very new to me. But I'm glad she's happy. And I'm glad she's not done growing up.

ya know, there is a Gilmore Girls episode where Loralai has to plan a Tea Party for a group of dolls....:) See you really can learn about anything from Gilmore Girls.
Funny. We were just looking through the American Girl catalog this afternoon. We were feeling rather smug that our daughters, at least the two oldest, are out of that stage. We never purchased one, but we got the imitation at Target for both of them at one point. I think it's cute all the fun ideas they come up with to do with girl and doll.
Ahhh, it's too bad we don't live closer! Sadie's loves her dolls and I'm sure she and Heidi would have a lot of fun together. Sadie saved her own money for Kaya. The AG catalog just came to our house and she poured over it.
Your sister's costume made me laugh.
The doll is beautiful. I have always hid the American Girl catalog when it comes in the mail. I'm with you though - hooray that she isn't too grown up for it. And way to go, for her saving her allowance. Awesome.
You are in big trouble. I happened to open up your post about the dolls as my Emma was sitting next to me. That, along with the arrival of the American Girl catalog in the mail, has rekindled her obsession with getting a doll. She talks about it every day and wants to review he "wants" in the catalog just as often. =)
